Springtime in Errinundra

This event is organised by the Friends of Errinundra and will be run concurrently with the Annual Track Clearing 4 days.
Explore old growth forests, cool temperate rainforests, alpine heights and a remote nature reserve. Featuring guided drives, short walks and evening talks by senior botanist David Cameron (the track clearers are also welcome to attend these presentations).
David Cameron: The former Senior Botanist at DEECA for 25 years, now an Honorary Fellow with the Arthur Rylah Institute, Botanical Curator of the Victorian Biodiversity Atlas Data Base, first employed by the Forests Commission in 1978 as their first botanist. Stationed at Orbost.
The Gippsland Waratahs will be flowering by this time.
Based at the Bendoc Hall each evening.
Saturday evening will be a BBQ organised by Parks Victoria with assistance from others (BYO drinks), with presentations by Parks Victoria and others celebrating the 20th annual Track Clearing event.
Participants may wish to split their time between track clearing and the drives (see the Track Clearing event notice for further information). If club members from the same vehicle wish to participate in different activities this is possible through car pooling. Lunch will be your own picnic lunch in the bush each day.
Full ambulance cover and RACV Total Care (or similar) is recommended.
Full self sufficiency is required as there are no supplies or fuel available in Bendoc.
The Bendoc Hotel has evening meals (including take away) available.
This event will be jointly held with the Pajero 4WD Club and the Land Rover Owners Club of Victoria.

Weather: Alpine environment, potentially cold and wet. We have had wet weather and snow in the past, so please bring clothing, footwear and camping gear suitable for the conditions and keep an eye on the weather forecast for the Alpine area.
Equipment: Below are the recommended vehicle requirements. If you are not sure if your vehicle is suitable for a trip, please have a chat with the trip leader.
Road tyres suitable although all terrains are preferable. UHF radio, snatch strap, 2 rated shackles, front and rear recovery points. Clothing for wet and cold conditions, boots suitable for walking in the bush. All camping and cooking equipment, food and water for the event. First Aid kit. No supplies available in Bendoc.
Additional Equipment required: Camping gear, food and water. Clothing for wet and cold conditions. Morning tea and lunch will be in the bush each day – byo simple, “on the move” lunches and morning teas - byo thermos, etc.
Free camping at Wilsons Hut, Marriot Track. approx 5km from Bendoc. DEECA bush toilets, fire rings and picnic tables. Hot showers available in Bendoc for a gold coin donation. Local accommodation may be available. If bringing a caravan or camper travel via Cann River and Bombala may be preferred. Meals available at theBendoc Hotel.

Fuel: Full tank ex Orbost. Fuel and supplies available in Orbost and Delegate (NSW) (limited hours) and Bombala (NSW).
Distance: Bendoc is approximately 450 km from Melbourne. The trip distance is approximately 200 km, Bendoc to Bendoc.
Duration: 2, 3 or 4 days
Convoy limit: 10 vehicles
Meeting arrangements: We will meet at 9:30 am at the Bendoc Hall each day. We will aim to finish about 4.00pm each day.
Club Guest Registration policy: It is club policy in regard to insurance cover that if a member brings any non-members on the trip they must be registered and have paid the required fee as Temporary Members BEFORE the event. i.e. non-members can no longer register on the day with the trip leader.

Also if a non-member wishes to bring their own vehicle, the member inviting the non-member must contact the trip leader for approval to bring the vehicle. Such approval will take into account skills of the driver, suitability of the vehicle and whether or not a place within the convoy limit is available for a non-member's vehicle.
