Description:
This event is a working bee to work assist LnLz Wildlife Care & Rescue in Strath Creek who are improving their outdoor wombat pens. LnLz, aka Leonie and Lionel are dedicated carers raising orphaned wombats from palm size 'pinkies' to you adulthood, ready for release back into the wild. They care for younger wombats in and around their house, after which they graduate to outside pens as they mature toward readiness for release. Caring for young wombats is a relentless task requiring skill and nuturing, but with the reward of seeing these beautiful creatures grow.
As wombats are strong burrowing creatures they are rather hard on their outdoor pens. Helpers are needed for installing and reinforcing some new fences following some excavation work Lionel already has planned. There will also be lighter duties, general tidying and so on for those not up to fencing. It will also be a great opportunity to learn about the work wildlife carers do and the lovely creatures they care for.
