Far East Gippsland Parks Victoria Seasonal Gate Closures

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

Date and time:  9.00am, Saturday 15 June 2024 to 3.00pm Sunday 16 June 2024

Description:  Please contact your trip leader if you are unsure of any of the following requirements for this trip.

The Pajero 4WD Club and the Land Rover Owners Club of Victoria will also be joining us. The Trip will be run under Pajero 4WD Club Rules.

Your expression of interest does not guarantee inclusion on this trip.

Preference will be given to previous attendees of Track Clearing and with the appropriate vehicle and driver training course completed.

The National Parks we will travel in are the Snowy River, Alpine and Errinundra.  The areas are all remote with tracks in the Medium range with some Hard sections. The convoys will be small with a couple being led by Parks Vic Rangers.   The task is to close all the Seasonal Closure Gates in the Bendoc Parks Office area of responsibility.

Saturday will be a full day of gate closing with a half day on Sunday. Arrival on Friday afternoon or evening is required. Further details will be advised closer to the time as the PV Ranger is currently organising the logistics. If the timing and location permits, we may have dinner at the Bendoc Hotel on the Saturday night.

Last fuel is at Orbost or fuel can be obtained in Delegate (NSW) depending on their opening hours.

Requirements - all participants are to have a Working With Children Check.

As a Parks Victoria Volunteer we are also covered by Parks Victoria insurance.

The PV Rangers will be providing a thorough safety briefing on the Saturday morning and each convoy will be carrying a PV Trunk Radio for regular safety check ins during the weekend.

RACV TotalCare or equivalent plus Ambulance subscription are highly recommended. The nearest town with supermarkets is Orbost.

We will be travelling in a remote area so please be self-sufficient including some emergency provisions.

Drivers must have completed the club Proficiency Driver Training course (or equivalent).

Parks Volunteers are all required to have a Working With Children Check (WWCC). This is free for volunteers.

No pets or firearms.
