Exploring the Brisbane Ranges

Bacchus Marsh to Anakie

Date and time: 10:00am to 4.00pm, Saturday 1st Ocober 2022

Description: We will leave from the back of the FoodWorks car park at 1-9 Bennet Street, Bacchus Marsh.

This trail follows the Robert Pepper trek through the Brisbane Ranges National Park. It is an easy trail, unsealed and suitable for Classic vehicles and AWD.

We will leave Bacchus Marsh to travel to the north end of the Brisbane Ranges heading along the twisty drive to admire the various views to Melbounre and Geelong along the way. There will be an opportunity to see wildlife or wildflowers such as grevillea, velvet daisy-bush, wattles, hakeas and orchids.

There are various saw mills and mine sites to see and at the end of the ranges lies the historic gold mine town of Steiglitz which we can explore.

Leaving Steiglitz we travel down a valley to Anakie. If time permits and if anyone is interested we can walk the Anakie Gorge.

Here you can continue to Geelong and Princess Hwy to Melbourne or back to Bacchus Marsh to the Western Hwy.
