Date and time:  Saturday 2 November; 9:00am

Description: This trip is a blend of touring through some of the impressive country between Orbost and Tambo Crossing via Buchan , and some potentially harder driving in the Victorian High Country taking in Haunted Stream Track (54 river crossings), Billy Goat Bluff Track and the Avon Track. The trip will start in Orbost and finish in Upper Maffra West.

Saturday - Orbost to Tambo Crossing via Buchan, 110 km (touring)

Sunday – Tambo Crossing to Dargo via Haunted Stream Track, 107km (medium/hard)

Monday – Dargo to Licola via Billy Goat Bluff Track, 98km (medium/hard)

Tuesday – Licola to Upper Maffra West via Avon Track, 100km (medium)

Weather:  Alpine environment, potentially cold and wet. Bring appropriate clothing and footwear.

Equipment:  Vehicles need to have low range 4WD capability with good all-terrain tyres, and UHF radio equipped (or borrow one from the Club). Bring recovery gear, snatch strap, shackles and a shovel [if you have MaxTrax (or the like) you can throw them in if you like].

Trip Standard:  Medium/hard – A day of easy touring leading into three days of medium tacks -but there may be track sections and river crossings that are more difficult depending upon weather conditions and amount of water in the streams, plus  some steep, low-range hill climbs and some rocky tracks!

Fuel:  A full tank from Orbost. We will have opportunity to refuel Dargo and Licola.

Distance:  Approximately 415km, 300 Km of  low range driving.

Duration: 4 days

Convoy limit: 8 vehicles

Meeting arrangements:  We plan to meet at Rosies Hot Bake Bakery, 174 Nicholson Street, Orbost (next to the Orbost IGA and the servo on the main road  through Orbost and aim to set off at 9.00am sharp. We will aim to finish about 3.00pm in Upper Maffra West on Tuesday.
