Dargo extension - Dargo, Bright, Canberra

Description Trip will leave from Dargo on the Tuesday morning heading north and travel across the range to end up in Bright where we will camp for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights.  Days in Bright can be a mix of sightseeing, coffees and some 4WDing but that is up for discussion.  Friday morning we will depart from Bright and head for Canberra again the route for this section can be up for discussion ...highway or up through Kosciusko NP?

Three nights i.e. Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be in a commercial campground with the idea of going to the final day of the Australian National Sheep Dog Trails at Hall (Hall is just north of Canberra) on the Sunday but you can go to both days if interested as nothing else planned for the Saturday.  Entry per day is $5pp or $15 per car.  A bit more info is available on their website.  The sheep dog trials

After that you can either elect to stay on in Canberra or make your way home by whichever route you choose.

Weather:  Canberra should be fairly mild at that time of year, but who knows so bring appropriate gear for a variety of conditions..

Equipment:  Vehicles need to have low range 4WD capability with good all-terrain tyres and  UHF radio equipped ( or one borrowed from the club).  Usual recovery gear should be carried.

Trip Standard: The trip from Dargo to Bright is easy and we will be taking our caravan across the Dargo – Hotham road.  There is a long climb out of Dargo and about 60 Km of all-weather gravel road across to the Great Alpine Road near Hotham, which is sealed to Bright.

Fuel: NA

Distance:  Dargo to Bright 130 Km. Bright to Canberra 450 Km.

Duration:  6 days

Convoy limit:  Open until late January when bookings will need to be confirmed.

Meeting arrangements:  We will leave from the campground at Waterford (Dargo) on the Tuesday morning after the Dargo weekend.
