FWDV Iconic Snowy River Tour

Description:   This is one of 4WD Victoria's Iconic Tours, taking in fantastic views of the Snowy River. The 286-kilometre drive is classified as Difficult in dry conditions, under Victoria’s 4WD Recreational Track Classification System – However, although there are challenging sections there is also a fair bit of easy driving through fantastic scenery including gorges, waterfalls, high ridges and beautiful forests. We'll likely camp at McKillop's bridge.

Weather:  Alpine environment, potentially cold and wet. Bring appropriate clothing and footwear.

Equipment:  Vehicles need to have low range 4WD capability with good all-terrain tyres and  UHF radio equipped ( or one borrowed from the club).  Usual recovery gear should be carried.

Trip Standard: Medium -  some difficult sections including, low-range hill climbs and some rocky tracks!

Fuel: a full tank ex Orbost or Lakes Entrance/similar

Distance: Approx. distance to/from Orbost is 300 Km of largely high-range but some low-range driving.

Duration: 2 days

Convoy limit: 8 vehicles

Meeting arrangements:  We plan to meet at Rosies Hot Bake Bakery, 174 Nicholson St, Orbost (next to Orbost IGA and the servo on the main road through Orbost) and we will depart at 9.00am sharp.  If you plan to get coffee beforehand then you will need to arrive a little earlier.

We will aim to finish about 4.00pm in Orbost

Trip Leaders: Sherry Mayo and Mark Bown, Sherry.Mayo@csiro.au / Mark.Bown@csiro.au, 0439 009 663 / 0437 251 645
