Yarra Glen – Toolangi - Narbethong
Description: This day trip will commence at Yarra Glen at 9:00 on Sunday morning with a driver briefing at McKenzie Reserve, 45 Bell Street (main street in Yarra Glen). The reserve is on the left hand side at the northern end of the main street. We will air down before we start, so please allow yourself some time to do this and to have a coffee if you wish before the start of the trip.
We will soon be off the bitumen, travelling via the forest back roads to Toolangi and on to the Wirrawilla Rainforest for a short and easy (approx. 2km) walk amongst one of the last remaining stands of Myrtle Beech and Sassafras Rain Forest in Victoria.
After morning tea, we will continue travelling north into the Toolangi State forest to explore some of the 4WD tracks there, before lunch somewhere in the forest. We will then head to Yea Rock, the former site of a fire tower (and hopefully some views over the tracks recently covered)
A mixture of forest roads and 4WD tracks will take us along the western edge of the Narbethong pine plantation, finishing at the Black Spur Inn – Narbethong, for a coffee before a scenic drive home over the Black Spur and through Healesville.
Weather: Should be fine at this time of the year, although there is always the possibility of rain. Bring appropriate clothing and footwear for a short forest walk.
