Licola to Horseyard Flat

Trip Date , Thursday 23 March 2017– Saturday 25 March 2017

Start at Licola(Victoria), 11am on 23 March 2017.

Trip Purpose: Camping, some walking.

Trip Pace : No Hurry, slow & enjoyable

Trip Kms: 600kms return From Melbourne

(Melbourne to Licola 240kms , Licola to Horseyard Flats approx. 60kms)

Trip Standard Easy to Medium

We meet at Licola at 11am, discuss the trip,  leave at 11.30pm.

Drive down the Tamboritha Road to the Arbuckle Junction , then down Moroka Rd to

The Horseyard Flat camp grounds. The campsite is appox 30kms from the Arbuckle Junction.

Nestled along the banks of the Moroka River in the Victorian High Country is a  campsite called Horseyard Flat. It’s a bit of a misnomer, as there is no provision for horses there anymore (although the old hitching posts and split rails are still there).

I have not been to this place, it would be nice if someone who has comes along.

If not, we will have to manage as a group.

The plan is to setup camp on Thursday , stay all day Friday , leave at 11am on Saturday.

On Friday we could take a walk to the Moroka Hut.

There is  also a nice little bushwalk over the footbridge and down an at-times steep path that will take you to several waterfalls and into the narrow, rocky Moroka Gorge.

From info on the web, there is water & toilet at the camp grounds.

Members should be self sufficient for the trip : fuel , food , water.

Should have all terrain tyres , recovery gear , well maintained vehicle.

Number of vehicles for the trip , lets see what the response is , as its during the week.
