Join Julie & Bill for a day focused on how to get the most from for camera and take the best shots.

Trip Standard: Easy

Bring morning tea and lunch.

Don’t forget camera, tripod, camera manual, lenses, etc.

9am – Meet at ‘The Bakery’ Main Neerim Road, Neerim South

Turn right at the roundabout and there is parking available on the left.

9.15am – Leave Neerim South and drive towards Noojee.

Drive to the historic Noojee Trestle Bridge  (right turn 1.3km before Noojee Township)

  • Have Morning Tea.
  • Get to know your DSLR camera settings
  • Manual and automatic settings
  • What does AV, TV, M and ISO mean?
  • Composition – Rule of thirds, Golden section, Symmetrical and asymmetrical balance.
  • Focal length and depth of field/different lenses

Drive to Toorongo Falls – just past Noojee township.

  • Take photos of the waterfall
  • Experiment with adjusting the manual settings to get the desired look

Drive to Walhalla.

On the way we will be crossing the Thompson River, subject to conditions.

Stop and take photos.

Have lunch at Walhalla.  BYO lunch or buy something at the local store. Take photos of the drystone walls, old gold mining equipment, king parrots, etc.

If time permits it would be good to go on a tour of the area. It would be especially good to have a look at ‘Horseshoe Bend Tunnel’. I will keep you posted.

Leisurely drive home from Walhalla.
