SUMMARY:Goog’s Track/Eyre Peninsular
LOCATION:Goog’s Track/Eyre Peninsular
DESCRIPTION:https://www.rangeroverclub.org.au/event-3200484\n\nGoog’s Track/Eyre Peninsular\n Description: Sherry and I should like to run a trip to Goog’s track and the Eyre Peninsular over the Easter/ANZAC day period. Our plan is to leave Melbourne on the Thursday afternoon and stay in Renmark Thursday night\, and drive on to Glendamdo on Friday. We plan to meet for the official start of the trip at Glendambo\, 9.00am on Saturday morning and spend the next 4 days driving down Goog’s track taking in side trips to Jellabenna rocks and Lois rocks. This will allow 3 days touring the Eyre Peninsular before driving back to Melbourne.\n Goog’s track sometimes referred to as the ‘mini Simpson’\, but the dunes are nowhere near as steep or high. The track runs north from Ceduna to the Trans Australian Railway Service road 40km west of Tarcoola. We will start in Glendambo some 123km to the east of this on the Stuart highway. The track traverses sand ridges\, rocky tracks and clay pans crossing endless scrub country.\n Please note there is no mobile phone reception once we have entered the park sections and that a fresh fruit and veg scam quarantine is in operation at Vic-SA border.\n Camping: The camping grounds have drop toilets with no washing facilities\, potable water\, or showers – bring adequate water for drinking and cooking\, and plan to cook on a fuel stove. Book camping at Goog’s Lake for the evenings of 20th – 22nd April (3 nights) at: https://www.parks.sa.gov.au/booking#Yumbarra%20Conservation%20Park \n Weather: Desert conditions - can be hot but cold at night. Equipment: Bring recovery gear\, snatch strap\, shackles and a shovel [if you have MaxTrax (or the like) you can throw them in if you like]. Cars should be in good condition and all terrain tyres.\n UHF Channel 10.\n Sufficient food and water for 6 days\n Please leave pets and camper trailers at home. \n Trip Standard: Medium - Most of the main tracks will be easy-medium but there may be track sections that are more difficult depending upon weather and sand conditions\n Fuel: Allow 150 litres from Glendambo for Goog’s track. Distance: Approximately 650km – 350km Glendambo to Ceduna PLUS side track to Jellabinna Rocks (200km return) and Lois Rocks (100km return)\n Duration: 4 days on Goog’s track followed by 3 days touring the Eyre Peninsular\n Convoy limit: 8 vehicles.\n Meeting Arrangements: We plan to meet in the Glendambo on Easter Saturday at 9.00am.\n Trip Leaders: Mark Bown and Sherry Mayo\; 0437251645. mark.bown@csiro.au\n \n
