Wombat Forest is a popular 4WD area, combining a beautiful forest with some really good roads. Navex is planned to be held here in May 2010 so we are going to spend a day checking out roads and maps to help us in planning.

Note that coming on this trip will not disqualify you from entering Navex – because it probably won't help much! It will really be a general survey to get a feel for roads and the area.

Meeting time and date: 9:00 am, Sunday 14 February 2010, for a 9.15 departure

Meeting Place:  BP Service Station, South side Western Highway Ballan.   This is the outbound BP on the Western Highway, about 45 mins from the CBD.

Trip Standard: Easy to medium, depending on what we find!

Number of cars: Maximum of 6 on this occasion. We'll split into two groups of 3 to increase the area we can cover.

Food and water: Bring food for the day, including morning tea and lunch. We'll aim to finish near a “watering hole” mid -late afternoon for refreshments.

Clothing: Be prepared for late Spring – anything from wet and cold to hot and dry.

Vehicle: Your vehicle and equipment are your responsibility. Ensure you are appropriately equipped and that your vehicle is reliable, roadworthy and safe. Good tyres are essential. You should also have a First Aid Kit, snatch strap and shackles, front and rear recovery points and UHF radio.

Comms: UHF channel 15

Fuel: Full tank out of town will be plenty.

Trip Leader:  TBC...  but one of the Navex organisers (Steve, Jenni, Ron or Chris) will be at the helm!
