The RRCV is coordinating FWDV Rural Response Group Bushfire Recovery activities in the Healesville – Narbethong – Marysville area. This trip will focus on "Landcare" activities, helping to manage holly in the recovering forests. We are seeking help with these activities on either or both days.
Dates: 30 & 31 May 2009
Meeting place and time for both days: 9.00 AM at the Black Spur Inn, Maroondah Highway, Narbethong.
Accommodation: We will be staying overnight on Saturday at the Black Spur Inn.
You can book a motel style room or bunk in the bunkhouse. Camping at the back of the property is free. There is more info about accommodation here: http://www.blackspurinn.com.au/. Meals: Breakfast and dinner will be available for purchase from the hotel. Please bring along your lunches and refreshments for during the day.
Activities: This weekend we will be focusing on tree removal, damaged fence removal and Landcare. Trees: If you have a chain saw and the appropriate safety gear please bring it all along. Fences: bring a good pair of wire or bolt cutters if you have them, good gloves and safety glasses. Long sleeves are a good adjunct to sturdy gloves when dealing with damaged fences... Repeat - good gloves!
Comms: The Trip Leader will be using UHF Channel 15.
