RRG Bushfire Recovery Trip

16 May 2009 - 00:00
17 May 2009 - 15:00

The RRCV is coordinating FWDV Rural Response Group Bushfire Recovery activities in the Healesville – Narbethong – Marysville area. We will be helping people in this area to cleanup and rebuild after the disastrous fires in February. We are seeking help with these activities on either or both days.

Dates: 16 & 17 May 2009

Meeting place and time for both days: 9.00 AM at the Black Spur Inn, Maroondah Highway, Narbethong.

Accommodation: We will be staying overnight on Saturday at the Black Spur Inn.

You can book a motel style room or bunk in the bunkhouse. Camping at the back of the property is free.  There is more info about accommodation here: http://www.blackspurinn.com.au/. Please contact the hotel direct on 5963 7121 if you would like a room or bunk - mention you are on the RRCV Cleanup trip.

Meals: Breakfast and dinner will be available for purchase from the hotel. Please bring along your lunches and refreshments for during the day.

Activities: This weekend we will be focusing on tree removal, damaged fence removal and Landcare. Trees: If you have a chain saw and the appropriate safety gear please bring it all along. Fences: bring a good pair of wire or bolt cutters if you have them, good gloves and safety glasses. Long sleeves are a good adjunct to sturdy gloves when dealing with damaged fences... Repeat - good gloves!

Comms: The Trip Leader will be using UHF Channel 15.
