Looking for Wombats

14 Sep 2008 - 00:00
14 Sep 2008 - 16:00

Phill and Jane Collyer are leading an early Spring look at Wombat Forest - join them for a pleasant day trip.

Meeting Time: 09:00 am, Sunday 14 September

Meeting Place: BP Service Station on the Western Freeway (south side), after Pykes reservoir, before Ballan - this is about an hour from Melbourne (if you get to Ballarat, then you have missed it!) Fuel and breakfast is available.

Trip Classification: Mostly easy given that it has been so wet – we will try to find some tracks that require low-range.

Vehicle Limit: 10 vehicles

Radio: UHF Channel 10

Maps:  Wombat State Forest 4WD Touring Guide, VicMaps Bullarto 7723-3-2 (1:25,000), VicMaps Trentham 7723-2-3 (1:25,000)

Essentials: Vehicle in sound mechanical condition; full tank ex-Melbourne.

Trip Notes:  We have not been to the Wombat State Forest for some years – there has been no time to survey this trip. One thing is that it is nearly always wet when in this area. If it gets too miserable, then we may visit Dayleford and find a coffee shop/pub with a warm fire.

Please bring your morning tea and a picnic lunch. This area can be cold – please bring appropriate clothing.

Trip Leaders:  Phill and Jane Collyer
