Simpson Trip finishes in the Flinders Ranges

The Simpson Desert Trip wound up in Parachilna Gorge on Saturday, after a wonderful two week trip organised by expedition leaders Phill and Jane Collyer.

The second part of the trip from Birdsville saw us head down the Bridsville Track to Marree, then on to Arkaroola.  We had two nights at Arkaroola.  On Friday the trip went through the Gammon Ranges towards the final night camp at Parachilna Gorge.   From there people went in all directions - including some lucky ones continuing on holiday.

The second part of the trip saw some continuing spring problems, but we were skilled with these by then and they were quickly fixed.  There will be some interesting "bush repaired" springs on display at a Club Meeting soon.  Our plans for Thursday around Arkaroola were also confused by a closed road.  But, as usual, Phill and Jane led us around it and we had a terrific day.  The Flinders Ranges offered an interesting contrast to what we saw in the Simpson!

There will be a Trip Report in Torque soon, as well as a verbal report and slide show at the September Club Meeting.  We'll also put the slideshow on the website.  All will be well illustrated - everyone had digital cameras and used them extensively.  There was lots of spectacular country to capture...

Special thanks and congratulations to Phill and Jane for organising and leading such a great trip - it was a classic RRCV outback expedition.
