Butcher Country
This is the last chance to see some of the best country that Victoria has to offer prior to the seasonal road closures. This trip has become a RRCV Queen’s Birthday weekend tradition, not just because the tracks close, or that the river levels are coming up after the summer, but because the Howitt High Plains are likely to be dusted with snow and it is a great chance to share a (modest) camp fire.
Meeting place: Licola general store and campground - 9.00 am Saturday. I will camp Friday night at the campground, others are welcome to do the same.
Trip standard: Medium - All Terrain tyres and snatch’em strap required.
Fuel: Full tanks at Licola. LPG not available.
Clothing: Be prepared for hot and cold conditions.
Itinerary: Saturday Licola. Sunday just below the snow line of the Howitt High Plains. Monday Mansfield
Convoy limit: Seven vehicles, due to the limitation of tent space at the mid point of our trip.
