Rutherglen Winery Trip

Rutherglen was first established in the 1860’s for gold mining. But in the end it was a case of the gold rush giving way to the grape rush. On this trip we will be looking for liquid gold...

Trip Standard: easy unless wet

Directions: from Hume Freeway take Corowa exit, follow signs to Rutherglen. When you meet Murray Valley Highway turn right into Rutherglen (3 hours from Melbourne).

Meeting Place: Wine Village carpark at 9.45am for a 10.00 am departure

Itinerary:
Saturday follow the Murray River via tracks to visit and tour wineries. Sunday morning more wine tasting before stopping at new Microbrewery for our lunch spot.

Food:
- Optional Friday evening meal for those early enough.
- Saturday lunch: you have the option to purchase food at our lunch spot or provide your own picnic lunch.
- Tuileries Restaurant will be booked for Saturday night dinner. It is walking distance from all accommodation. Fully licensed and BYO (corkage fee will apply). 
- We will finish at 1 pm on Sunday in Rutherglen so you'll have lots of choice...

Feel free to organise meals to suit your individual requirements. At/by May club meeting exact numbers needed for Tuileries Sat dinner.

Water: plenty of grape juice in any one of 18 wineries to supplement hard local water

Clothing: neat casual dress for Tuileries Restaurant.

Equipment: spares & recovery equipment including snatchem strap and front & rear towing points.

Communication: UHF ch 15.

Convoy Limit: unlimited with possible restriction for Murray River track if wet.
