The RRCV's annual Labour Day weekend in Dargo is on again this year, after being cancelled in 2007 due to drought and bushfires. It's a wonderful weekend that offers something for everyone...

Vehicle Limit: None. This trip will cater for large numbers.
Distance: Dargo is approximately 4 hours from Melbourne.
Fuel: Get fuel on the way. Fuel is also available at Base Camp (but no LPG)
Meeting place: Base Camp “Wonangatta Caravan Park”
Please try to arrive anytime Friday 8th, or before 9 am Saturday 9th at Wonangatta Caravan Park, at Waterford, 10km BEFORE Dargo. Cross Wonangatta River on narrow concrete bridge, look for Park and Fuel Station on left less than l km past bridge. Vic Roads Map 83E2.
BOOK IN AND PAY CAMP FEES AS YOU ARRIVE IF OFFICE IS OPEN. In the Park, follow the RRCV signs – Phill and Jane will be there to meet you.
Essentials: Vehicles in sound condition, basic recovery gear, spares and good tyres. Hat, torch, good footwear, warm clothes (cold nights), swimmers, NAME TAGS, kids bikes. Simple, “on the move” lunches, food for 3 days, drinking water and port.
DO NOT bring: Pets, firearms, or motorbikes.
Radio: UHF CHANNEL 10
Maps: If you require them, “BushMaps Vic. Crooked River- Dargo”, or VicMap: “Crooked River-Steve 8323-S” available at the Melbourne Map Centre.

TRIP NOTES:
This is a Base Camp for 3 nights: Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Bring your own tent, camper or caravan. Some on-site vans available. If you wish to come early or stay longer please let Phill know and he will notify the proprietors. Park Amenities are hot showers, toilets, pwd. sites, gas BBQ, fuel, basic stores, good swimming in Wonangatta River.
Dargo is approached via Princes Highway through Sale & Stratford. Approx. 23 km past Stratford turn to Fembank, follow signs to Dargo. Take care on Dargo road especially if towing.
Several Trips will take place each day and return to the base at the Park..
We will have a SPIT ROAST DINNER on the Saturday night - preliminary cost information below. This has been a very popular part of the weekend. Bookings for the Dinner will be essential.
The Annual Cricket Match, “The Rovers versus the Rabble”, takes place on Sunday afternoon. More information about trips and the weekend programme will be posted here and in coming editions of Torque.
ALL MEMBERS are welcome. Also, new Members who have not completed driver training will be catered for and are most welcome.
Note: Following the bushfires, floods and drought, the caravan park hosts are keen to have us come and support the Dargo area. At present, the area is hoping for more rain and we hope they get all they need before we turn up.
Costs:
Rates at the Wonnangatta Caravan Park for the March long weekend are: Single $10/night, Child $5/night, Couple $19/night, Family (2 adults and 2 children) $20/night. Power is included but there are a limited number of power sites.
The spit roast dinner is confirmed for the Saturday night – current quote is around $16 per head; children’s rates yet to be provided.
