There was a time, long, long ago, when cattlemen would roam around the Mt Buller area around about the end of April and early May to retrieve their cattle before the first winter snows. Alas, the romance of all that has gone, but we can still travel through that country to see some of the more historic areas. We shall have a look at the new Craig’s Hut (OK, so that is not very historic!), go to Cobbler Lake and the Falls, to Lovick’s Hut, Bluff Hut and Bindaree Hut. Start and finish are at Mansfield. A day trip into the Bunyip State Forest, just past the familiar spots of Puffing Billy and the Gilwell Scout Camp.
