The Pyrenees State Forest is located 220kms north west of Melbourne, west of Avoca. Rugged mountain ranges with spectacular views, the Pyrenees are fine examples of natural and cultural history. European settlement began in the 1840s. Most of the Pyrenees was prospected and mined after gold was discovered in October 1854. | ||

Jardwadjali and Djab Wurrung Aboriginal people sustained indigenous lifestyles in and around the Gariwerd Grampians) area's mountains and valleys for thousands of years. Aboriginal society, economy and lifestyle have a long association with Gariwerd. | ||
The 7th Australian 4x4 Gathering will be held at Mitta Mitta at Easter 2008. The event is organised by Four Wheel Drive Victoria and will attract 4WDers from all over Australia. Chris & Karen Brown are leading an RRCV contingent to the event.
